About Dr. Donadio
Dr. Melissa Donadio, Psy.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist and the founder of M.D. Psychological Services, where she provides comprehensive psychological evaluations and trauma-informed therapy to children, adolescents, adults, and families. She brings over a decade of experience across schools, hospitals, correctional facilities, community mental health programs, and specialized treatment settings.
Dr. Donadio earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) and her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Practices from the University of Hartford. She also holds a Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology from George Washington University. Her research and publications focus on trauma, incarceration, and mental health equity, particularly on improving care for justice-involved individuals. She has presented nationally and has been invited to train schools, state agencies, and community organizations on trauma-informed practice, LGBTQIA+ youth support, and dismantling oppressive structures within clinical work.
Before transitioning into full-time private practice, Dr. Donadio held leadership and supervisory roles in school-based programs, early psychosis services, correctional settings, and forensic hospitals. She has extensive experience providing crisis intervention, conducting complex diagnostic evaluations, and supervising multidisciplinary teams and doctoral trainees. She continues to consult and provide training throughout New Jersey.
Clinically, Dr. Donadio’s work is collaborative, culturally responsive, and grounded in empowerment. She integrates trauma-focused care with relational and systems-oriented frameworks, helping clients navigate complex trauma, identity development, family dynamics, boundary-setting, and emotional regulation. Her therapeutic presence is warm, direct, and deeply affirming, guided by the belief that healing is both personal and collective, and that clients thrive when therapy centers authenticity, dignity, and liberation.
